Nissan to market redesigned Note small car in Japan as it looks to restore profitability
Nissan Engine Co Ltd on Tuesday said it'll sell a redesigned version of its best-selling Note small car in Japan from December featuring different hybrid travel technology, to win industry share from Toyota Electric motor Corp and Honda Electric motor Co Ltd.

The Note's first full model change in eight years is part of an idea by the carmaker to revamp an aging vehicle fall into line and return to profitability as it pulls back from the expansion pursued by former Chairman Carlos Ghosn to focus on sales in Japan, China and america.

The Note will feature "e-Vitality" hybrid technology, which runs on the gasoline engine to charge a battery that powers the automobile. New autonomous drive features will help drivers slow down on curves using info from the car's navigation program.

Nissan, which expects to post a record operating lack of 340 billion yen in the year to March 31, is cutting production potential and model quantities by a fifth and aims to slash operating expenditures by 300 billion yen over 3 years.

Simultaneously, it has promised to release a slew of cars in Japan, China and america, including new electric automobiles to lure increasingly environment-conscious drivers.

In Japan, the Notice, which runs on the platform designed with French alliance spouse Renault SA, will compete With Toyota's Yaris and Honda's Fit. A Nissan spokeswoman explained the automaker hasn't built any decision on providing the redesigned car or truck in other markets.
