The entire setup for the 5G trial involved a 5G RAN that operated on a 3.5GHz network band. This was done along with 5G Core and a 50GE network slicing router.

During the time this test was being run, a user throughput speed of 3Gbps was attained by the team, which according to the firm is the highest for the 3.5GHz band. The said tests were conducted within a 100MHz bandwidth and an awesome result was achieved with 1-millisecond end-to-end network latency.

According to Airtel, if this comes in motion, enhanced mobile broadband services will be offered to all the users, which will also cater to coverage requirements.

Last year in December 2017, 3GPP completed the first set of 5G New Radio standards. The company claims that with this technology, users will experience video speed like never before. Elements like 360-degree, 4K, ultra-HD, along with virtual reality and augmented reality will become a cakewalk.

All the telecom operators also believe that with this, artificial intelligence (AI) systems will also be promoted.

“The promise of 5G is endless; it will be a game changer, and it will change the way we live, work and engage,” Abhay Savargaonkar, director – networks at Bharti Airtel said, reports ET. “We look forward to working closely with our partners for developing a robust 5G ecosystem in India.”
