North Korea's Kim stresses financial policies at a politburo meeting

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stressed the necessity to carry out financial policies with responsibility, as he presided more than a gathering of the politburo of the ruling Workers Party, state news agency KCNA reported on Monday (Nov 30).
The meeting comes during a tough year for North Korea as the coronavirus pandemic has put more pressure on an economy already battered by international sanctions targeted at stopping its nuclear program.
The politburo harshly criticized the economic guidance organs for failing to provide scientific guidance for financial tasks before a congress following year, KCNA reported.
"It stressed the need to put the procedure and command for carrying out the Party's monetary policies on a scientific basis and display great commitment and responsibility," said KCNA.
In August, Kim said the ruling get together would hold a congress in January to select a new five-year plan, with a celebration meeting noting considerable delays in bettering the national economy.
