Opening times for supermarkets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as malls close for two weeks
From Wednesday, March 23, malls across the UAE will be closing for two weeks, within ongoing measures to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

However, supermarkets and some pharmacies within malls will stay open to ensure everyone is able to access essentials.

Malls will be taking special measures to ensure customers can access supermarkets safely, signposting them to the closest entrance and undertaking daily deep cleaning, while some malls have thermal cameras installed.

A spokesperson for Oasis Mall, which includes outlets in Dubai and Sharjah, told The National. "In Dubai, a thermal camera has been installed at the mall's main entrance, as the basement parking will be fully functional in both the Dubai and Sharjah locations, to provide all visitors fast access to the Carrefour stores in addition to the iCare clinic in Oasis Mall Dubai and Life pharmacy in Sharjah."

Carrefour, which has a large number of branches across the UAE, in addition has ensured customers that it's working closely with suppliers to make certain that stock levels remain high, and prices do not inflate.

"We motivate all our valued customers to shop responsibly and be mindful of others," a spokesperson for the supermarket said. "We've full confidence inside our stock and offer chain and we continue steadily to monitor stock levels to make sure we adequately focus on customer needs. We are also working closely with suppliers to make sure that essential products remain at reasonable prices to ensure that our customers don’t experience an increase in their shopping bills."

The statement added that stores will be adding special measures to make sure customers follow social distancing rules, including putting acrylic glass screens at checkout counters and installing signs detailing best social distancing practices.
