Organizer of Europe's major tech event says it'll just do it in November
Europe's biggest technology conference, the Web Summit, will take place in Lisbon in November as organized, its organizer said on Tuesday.

Should it happen it could be among the primary big international happenings to be staged because the start of coronavirus pandemic, which includes pressured the cancellation of happenings from music festivals to the Olympic Games.

THE NET Summit, which moved from Dublin to the Portuguese capital in 2016, attracts around 70,000 participants each year, drawing speakers from leading global tech companies and startups, in addition to politicians.

"Web Summit is going ahead this year in Lisbon!" the conference's founder Paddy Cosgrave wrote on Twitter. "Web Summit will abide by the strictest health protocols as guided by the federal government of Portugal."

Events or perhaps gatherings of 20 or even more people remain banned across Portugal in fact it is not yet crystal clear what measures will be required of this year's Net Summit to reduce risk of contagion.

As countries emerge from lockdown, governments are actually anxious to prevent a second wave of infections, which could see restrictions in movement reimposed.

Portugal, which has up to now reported a complete of 37,336 cases and 1,522 deaths from the coronavirus, lower than neighboring Spain, started out lifting its lockdown on May 4.

The united states has been hailed as a success story in its fight against the virus, but localized outbreaks around Lisbon have kept cases at a worrying plateau within their hundreds per day for the past month.
