Pique chases the referee after Lewandowski's red card and ends up getting sent off himself!
09 November, 2022
Gerard Pique's last match in LaLiga Santander for Barcelona won't soon be forgotten.
The center-back didn't hesitate in jumping onto the pitch and questioning Gil Manzano over his decision to send off Robert Lewandowski once the first half against Osasuna was over.
He probably didn't like the decision to ignore the foul on Marcos Alonso for the Osasuna goal either, with his complaints earning him a sending off of his own. It means he wasn't allowed to sit on the bench for the second half. The referee didn't want to hear from Barcelona player, but Pique chased after him down the tunnel. This isn't the first time the Catalan has confronted this same referee.
During a match against Real Madrid in April 2021, Pique went after Gil Manzano over his decision not to add more stoppage time.
Just like Tuesday, the center-back didn't play that day despite being on the bench, but that didn't stop him from asking the referee for answers.
It shouldn't be forgotten that Tuesday is Pique's last match in LaLiga Santander. The central defender announced last week that he is hanging up his boots.
He said goodbye to the Camp Nou as a starter last Saturday, but his final match away to Osasuna certainly ended in a much different manner.
Pique has also gone down in the history books as the Barcelona player, along with Stoichkov, who has received the most red cards in his career in all competitions.
To be precise, both players received 11 red cards.
If we look at LaLiga alone, both were unable to finish 8 games, a figure also shared with Pep Guardiola.
