Physical fashion events continue being cancelled with the winter editions of Pitti Uomo, Pitti Bimbo and Pitti Filati to be placed as an electronic format in the Pitti Connect platform.
The men’s trade show, Pitti Uomo was likely to run February 21 to 23 in Florence, on the other hand, organisers possess announced a statement to cancel all physical events because of the Italian government tightening coronavirus restrictions targeted at limiting the spread of Covid-19 in the united states.
Along with Pitti Uomo, Pitti Filati and Pitti Bimbo’s physical events, dedicated to textile and childrenswear, respectively, will also move online.
Raffaello Napoleone, chief executive of Pitti Immagine, said in a statement: “Within the last few weeks, the likelihood of being able to contain the fairs in a physical format had plainly decreased but we had decided to keep carefully the option open until the suspension was officially confirmed, because we were alert to the strong desire of our exhibitors and potential buyers to physically hook up, in person, regardless of the many problems that entailed.
“This is not superficial optimism, nor a kind of stubbornness in the face of clear evidence, but rather a determination to leave no stone unturned, possibly also supplying a useful message for the coming months.”
The wintertime editions will now be held exclusively as digital formats on the Pitti Connect system, that may remain online with the contents of the existing fair season before starting of April. Organisers described that this will warranty an “in-depth exchange” between exhibitors, potential buyers and press.
Pitti Immagine added they are planning a good go back to a physical celebration in the summer.
