Real Madrid Chiefs 'Undecided' Between Kane & Mbappe
10 June, 2023
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti and club president Florentino Perez are reportedly at odds over who the club should sign between Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe.
According to Relevo, the Italian tactician and the Spanish executive do not see eye to eye on the club's plan to replace Karim Benzema.
The Frenchman bid farewell to the Santiago Bernabeu after 14 years earlier this week, a decision that drastically altered Los Blancos' transfer plans.
The club now needs an elite No. 9 and Kane is believed to be at the top of that list. With the Englishman approaching the final year of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur, the former AC Milan boss wants to add the 29-year-old to the Los Blancos roster so they are in the best possible position to ascend back to the summit of Spanish and European football.
However, the same report claims that Perez is not keen to spend north of €100 million (R billion) on Kane, especially considering that Mbappe could be available on a free transfer come the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Like Kane, the France captain is believed to be entering the final 12 months of his deal in Paris, and Real believe they will be able to finally lure the pacey attacker to the Spanish capital next year.
Signing the 24-year-old would, however, prove difficult if they were to pour most of their funds into getting Kane this off-season, but given that Ancelotti himself is also in the last year of his contract with Los Merengues, the 63-year-old seemingly wants to give himself the best possible chance of extending his stay in Madrid.
