Real Madrid have ‘no plans’ to make offers for Neymar
14 July, 2018
Real Madrid have released a statement that reads the Spanish giants have ‘no plans’ to make any sort of bid for the Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar.
Neymar has been heavily linked with a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu for a long time since the 26-year old ace forward made a record 222 million euro transfer to PSG from Barcelona in 2017. After Cristiano Ronaldo made a move to the Italian Champions Juventus in a deal worth €100m (£88m/$117m) plus €12m (£10.5/$14m) in additional charges, speculations regarding Neymar being a potential replacement for Ronaldo at Madrid just got stronger in the recent days.
Neymar, who scored twice at the World Cup in Russia, was already believed to be in the club’s sights prior to Ronaldo’s shock decision to pursue a new opportunity.
However, According to a report from Goal.com, Real Madrid have put an end to all the speculations as they claimed in one of their club statements that the European giants have not held any sort of discussions with the PSG star over a potential return to La Liga.
“Given the constant information linking the PSG player Neymar with our club, Real Madrid CF wants to clarify that it has no plans to make any offers for the player,” a club statement read.
“The relationship between the two clubs is extraordinary, so that, if at some point Real Madrid were considering signing a PSG player, the first thing it would do would be to go to his club.”
Madrid’s decision to turn their attention away from Neymar could see them step up their reported interest in Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, while Kylian Mbappe has also been described as a potential heir to the throne left vacant by Ronaldo, the club’s all-time leading scorer.
