Samsung Places 4th in Global 5G Equipment Competitiveness
22 January, 2020
Samsung placed fourth in the world in 5G competitiveness.
According to a recent report by data analytics company GlobalData, the Korean giant achieved the ranking among leading global equipment vendors in an evaluation of their 5G radio access network (RAN) product portfolios.
A RAN is a component of a telecommunications system that uses radio technology to link devices to other parts of a network. The portfolios consist of baseband unit capacity, radio unit portfolio, installation ease and technology evolution.
China's Huawei received the top rating, followed by Nokia and Ericson. Another Chinese company, ZTE, came in fifth.
The report found that Samsung's radio unit portfolio is relatively small, and the company is not active in promoting solutions for network deployments.
