Samsung to Boost AI Development

Samsung on Tuesday unveiled plans to boost spending on artificial intelligence development as part of its goal to become the world's No.1 non-memory chip maker.
The Korean tech giant aims to tap into the growing AI chip market by independently developing neural processing units, which can perform thousands of calculations simultaneously.
Samsung said it will increase its workforce in AI research and development tenfold to 2,000 over the next 10 years. The plans came after the announcement in April that it will invest W133 trillion in its non-memory business by 2030 (US$1=W1,187).
