Samsung to Retain Lead in Global DRAM Market in Q3
Samsung is expected to consolidate its position as the world's leading memory chipmaker.

Market researcher IHS Markit said Thursday that Samsung is projected to hold a 47-percent share of the global DRAM market in the third quarter of this year, widening its lead over second-place SK Hynix with 27 percent.

Samsung accounted for less than 40 percent of the market last year. It has seen its share grow this year, reaching 41 percent in the first quarter and 43 percent in the second quarter.

The chipmaker is also expected to maintain its global lead in NAND flash-memory chips in the third quarter with a 39-percent market share.
