Seoul Motor Show to Focus on Connected Mobility
The biennial Seoul Motor Show will take place under the theme of "Sustainable Connected Mobility" at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province from Mar. 29 to April 7.

The organizing committee on Monday said 20 domestic and foreign carmakers and about 180 parts, IT and energy companies will participate in this year's show.

U.S. electric car manufacturer Tesla will take part for the first time.

Some 100 models, including 22 new cars, will be introduced at the event. Two will have their world premieres, 10 will have their Asian premieres, and the other 10 will be unveiled for the first time in Korea.

This year's show will feature fewer carmakers and new models than the last event in 2017, however.

"We aim to focus on improving quality, not quantity," the organizing committee said. "We'd like to turn the show from a mere auto show into a mobility show."

The Seoul Motor Show, which is marking its 12th year, is Korea's only international motor show authorized by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), and has been held every other year since 1995.
