Shahid Afridi buys Mushfiq's bat for Tk 17 lakh
Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim found an unlikely buyer for his bat in Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, who decided to choose the memorabilia for his foundation at $20,000 (Tk 17 lakh), said the official on Friday.

Mushfiq put the bat, with which he scored Bangladesh's first Test double hundred in 2013 against Sri Lanka, in auction earlier this week, however the process had to be suspended because of some fake bidding.

The auction was jointly operated by his management partner NIBCO, Sports for Life and Pickaboo.com.

Ceo of Pickaboo.com, Morin Talukder, said they finally got the proper buyer in Shahid Afridi Foundation, which confirmed their interest via an official letter.

"We've received email in official letterhead from ShahidAfridi foundation. They confirmed that they will be purchasing the bat for $20,000," he said.

Shahid Afridi Foundation was initiated in 2014 by former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi to handle philanthropic activities in Pakistan and abroad.

The same platform also put additional memorabilia, like the bat of Mosaddek Hossain, Naim Sheikh, a signed cap by Mashrafee bin Murtaza, with an try to raise funds for coronavirus influenced people.

Part of the fund will go to non-profit organisation BRAC for cash disbursement among the marginal people as the player concerned will spend all of those other profit his own way.

Morin added that some other items were also catching buyer's attractions.

"We are experiencing good response for the batting gloves and jersey of Akbar Ali, which he wore through the final of ICC U-19 World Cup. Mashrafee's signed cap can be in popular demand," he said.
