SK Heiress Joins Chip Subsidiary
18 August, 2019
SK chairman Chey Tae-won's second daughter will take a relatively modest position at SK Hynix, the conglomerate's chip subsidiary.
Industry insiders said Chey Min-jung will work for SK Hynix's office in Washington, which handles international trade and regulatory affairs, as an assistant manager starting Friday.
Chey graduated from Peking University in business administration but volunteered to become a naval cadet in 2014, which is rare among scions of major family-owned conglomerates.
She was commissioned as an ensign in 2015 and served six months in anti-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia. She was discharged in 2017.
Last year Chey started working in the global M&A team at Hony Capital, which is among the top 10 investment firms in China.
Meanwhile, her elder sister Yoon-chung (30), who is a manager at SK Biopharmaceuticals, will begin studying next month for a master's degree in biomedical informatics at Stanford University.
