South Korea studies second-highest new COVID-19 cases amid new wave

South Korea reported 686 new coronavirus circumstances on Wednesday (Dec 9) as it battles a good third wave of contamination that's threatening to overwhelm its medical program.
The daily tally was the second-highest because the start of pandemic, in line with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA). New cases have already been consistently around 600 in the last week.
Tougher social distancing guidelines took influence on Tuesday, including unprecedented curfews over restaurants and most other businesses.
The government has also introduced a fresh testing method to focus on surging demand, and eased rules to release some recovered patients faster to release hospital beds.
The federal government has signed handles four global drugmakers to procure COVID-19 vaccines for 44 million people.
South Korea's total infections stand at 39,432, with 556 deaths.
