Spain virus loss of life toll hits eight seeing that infections jump
Spain reported five new deaths as a result of novel coronavirus on Friday, getting the toll to eight while officials shuttered elderly health care centers across Madrid after a good spike in cases.

The condition claimed the lives of three elderly men in the Madrid region, in adition to that of an 87-year-old woman in Badalona close to Barcelona and a guy of the same age in the northeastern city of Zaragoza, regional health authorities said.

Among the newly reported deaths was that of a 76-year-old guy who frequented a seniors center in Valdemoro just south of Madrid where 15 other users and staff members have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

His death follows that of a 99-year-old woman earlier this week who used another day-care facility for older people in Madrid and it prompted health officials to order all 213 such conveniences in the region, both daycare and residential, to be shut for a month.

"This decision features been taken because users of seniors centers are specially vulnerable to COVID-19," the regional federal government of Madrid said found in a declaration, before adding there is an "remarkable and imminent threat to community health".

Spain reported its initially coronavirus loss of life on Tuesday evening, telling the victim had died on Feb. 13 but was only identified as having COVID-19 during a post-mortem examination in a production which includes worried officials.

Since then the number has jumped to eight.

These deaths "exhibit that the virus arrived sooner than thought" on Spain, Antoni Trilla, mind of preventative medicine and epidemiology at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, told El Pais newspaper. 

So far, each of the victims have already been people in high-risk classes, elderly or experiencing a pre-existing condition.
