06 December, 2019
Sri Lanka will quickly start work on establishing a cloth processing park in Eravur, Batticaloa.
There cannot be a better news for country’s garment industry, just as a fabric park can not only help bring down lead time, but also decrease the input costs.
The target is to attract large numberof foreign investors to Sri Lanka’s apparel industry, including Chinese investors.
Further on the same, Rehan Lakhany, Chairman, Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association told the press “Sri Lanka’s Joint Apparel Association (JAAF) and Plank of Investment will work to create an industrial zone for the expansion of the industry.”
Rehan added that there are talks to get yourself a 200-acre land in Eravur as the area is ideal to create a textile processing park. He also said that lots of foreign textile suppliers will then come to be invited to Sri Lanka to set up factories in the area.
Apart from all of the latest conveniences, the park may also visit a water treatment park.
