Teen's rape and murder sparks outcry, protest found in Nepal

A huge selection of Nepalis staged a good mock funeral procession found in the capital Kathmandu on Friday (Feb 12) following the rape and murder of a good teenage girl drew attention to a growth in sexual assault circumstances.
Bhagirathi Bhatta, 17, went missing on Thursday the other day while she was going home from university. Her human body was found the next day in a gorge near her village in Baitadi district in western Nepal.
An inital investigation by police discovered that she have been raped and strangled.
At the protest in Kathmandu, demonstrators dressed in white mourning clothes carried a girl on a bamboo stretcher to symbolise the victims who lose their lives to such violent crimes.
Others followed, calling for a finish to violence against ladies and justice for victims seeing as the marched.
Several people wrapped dark cloth around their eye to symbolically protest the federal government turning a blind attention to the spate of cases.
"We are below to problem and pressure the government ... The murderer should be presented to the streets, should be punished," protester Rekha Thapa informed AFP.
"Next to none have obtained justice," another protester, Anoushka Pandey, told AFP.
"If tomorrow something happens if you ask me or somebody I love and value, who is going to be accountable? Who's going to offer us justice? For all of these answers I am here."
In 2018, thousands poured onto the streets following the brutal rape and murder of 13-year-outdated schoolgirl Nirmala Pant, with one individual dying and dozens injured through the protests.
The state was accused of not taking satisfactory action in rape cases, and a video emerged of police officers destroying evidence.
Some 2,100 rape instances were reported in Nepal this past year, according to the police, up from significantly less than 1,000 in 2015.
Activists say the higher number of instances reflect more studies of violence by ladies. But they say that lots of more assaults also choose unreported in the deeply patriarchal country.
