Tencent restructures to focus on cloud, artificial intelligence
Tencent has made major adjustments to its internal structure, setting up two new departments including CSIG (Cloud and Smart Industries Group) and the PCG (Platform and Content Group), The Paper reported.

The Internet giant, which is about to celebrate its 20th birthday, completed the new round of strategic upgrades on the basis of its original seven business groups, retaining the Corporate Development Group, Interactive Entertainment Group, Technology Engineering Group and WeChat Business Group.

Although the original Social Network Group, the Mobile Internet Group and the Online Media Group were dissolved, the original team and business were restructured into other departments. In fact, cloud computing, AI and enterprise services have been strengthened in this way.

The newly established CSIG will integrate various industry solutions, including Tencent Cloud, Internet+, smart retail, education, healthcare, security and LBS to promote the digital upgrade of different industries.

PCG will also integrate Tencent’s news, video, literature, music, animation, sports and other content products. It is one of the major areas of the company’s strategic upgrade, aiming at the deep integration of social platforms, content industries and technologies.
