Thai rescue personnel said in Wednesday (Apr 7) that they had freed a Buddhist monk trapped in the flooded cave in Thailand's Phitsanulok province, after he went inside times ago to meditate.
The monk, determined by an area rescue unit as 46-year-old Phra Ajarn Manas, was on a pilgrimage from another province and had opted in to the Phra Sai Ngam cave in Phitsanulok on Saturday.
An unseasonal rainstorm that struck on Sunday and continued through Tuesday flooded elements of the cave while he was interior, the local rescue device said on its Facebook page.

The machine said residents in the area told them the monk was trapped in the cave on Tuesday afternoon. Rescue personnel went in seeking for him but had to call off their operation after about one hour because of rising water levels.
Images on the unit's Facebook page showed the monk on Wednesday sitting inside cave surrounded by rescue workers and having his blood circulation pressure taken.
"At 11.30am we successfully rescued Phra Manas out of your cave," the machine said in a content.
