This Car Has A 49-Inch Screen For A Dashboard And An 8-Inch Tablet In The Steering Wheel!

The thing about concept cars is that they allow the designers to concentrate solely on designing something that is not bound by safety regulations, manufacturer claims and engineering limitations. They’re made to look good and hopefully tell us folks what to expect from the future.

Here’s another one from a startup called Byton. The concept is named rather unimaginatively, the ‘Concept’, and its hallmark is the dashboard! Yes, weird. But wait till you have a look at it.

That’s an astounding 49-inch screen masquerading as a dashboard there. It’s so big and in-your-face that you might have almost missed the 8-inch tablet embedded in the steering wheel. Oh, and that’s not it. There are two more screens for the rear seat passengers. Clearly, you’re not going to get bored in this car.

Byton is based out of China, the new home of the electric car revolution, thanks to the incentives for manufacturers. The company also claims that it's ready put the electric SUV in production by 2019 and start selling it stateside and in Europe by 2020.

The SUV is claimed to have a range of 523 km on the high-power dual motor version and there’s also a base version with 402 km range. Plans for an MPV and sedan based on the same platform are also in the pipeline.

Let’s hope all the promises do come true, but you can never be too sure. Remember how Faraday Future with LeEco as a majority shareholder got into trouble when its funds suddenly dried up? Here's to hoping that history doesn't repeat itself, for once.
