Top Singaporean Taxi Firm Embraces Hyundai's Ioniq Hybrids

Hyundai's Ioniq hatchback is continuing its success with Singapore's top taxi operator.
Hyundai said Monday it has signed a deal with ComfortDelGro to supply another 2,000 Ioniq hybrid taxis -- 1,500 by the end of this year, and 500 in the first half of next year.
Hyundai chief Chung Eui-sun visited Singapore to finalize the deal.
The carmaker already sold 1,200 Ioniqs to ComfortDelGro under a contract last year.
Hyundai has sold some 26,000 vehicles for taxis to Singapore over the last 13 years, and over 11,000 out of the city state's 20,000 taxis are Hyundais.
"With the latest deal we hope to become a leader in the eco-friendly car market," a Hyundai spokesman said.
