Trump finally gives his administration green light to proceed with Biden transition
After weeks of defiance, President Donald Trump on Monday (Nov 23) allowed officials to proceed with a transition to President-elect Joe Biden, giving his Democratic rival usage of briefings and funding even while he vowed to persist with efforts to battle the election results.

Trump, a Republican, provides alleged widespread voter fraud in the Nov 3 election without providing data. Although he has not acknowledged Biden's triumph, his announcement on Mon was the closest he has got come to admitting defeat.

The General Services Administration, which is the federal agency that has to sign off on presidential transitions, told Biden on Monday that he could formally commence the handover process. GSA Administrator Emily Murphy stated in a letter that Biden would will have access to information that were denied to him as a result of the legal challenges seeking to overturn his win.

That announcement came soon after Michigan officials accredited Biden as the victor within their state, building Trump's legal efforts to improve the election outcome a lot more unlikely to succeed.

Trump and his advisers said he would continue to pursue legal avenues, but his tweet served due to an indicator that even the Light House understood it was getting close to time to go on.

"Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the nice ... fight, and I imagine we will prevail! Nevertheless, in the very best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her workforce do what should be finished with regard to preliminary protocols, and also have told my crew to do the same," Trump explained in a tweet.

A Trump adviser painted the move as very similar to both prospects getting briefed through the campaign, and said the president's tweet had not been a concession.

A declaration by the Biden transition said meetings would get started with federal officials on Washington's response to the coronavirus pandemic, along with discussions of countrywide security issues.

The move by the GSA means Biden's team will have federal funds and the official office to conduct his transition until he takes office on Jan 20. It also paves just how for Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to receive regular national reliability briefings that Trump as well gets.

Two Trump administration officials told Reuters the Biden firm review teams could begin interacting with Trump firm officials as soon as Tuesday.

Earlier on Mon, Biden named the most notable members of his foreign insurance policy group, tapping trusted aide Antony Blinken to mind the State Department and former US senator, secretary of talk about and 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry to serve as his special environment envoy.
