Two villagers killed in Jinan traffic accident
Two villagers were killed in a traffic accident in Jinan, eastern China’s Shandong province on July 5, after a driver lost control of his vehicle when he fell asleep.

A man driving a Honda Accord, which he bought the day before, was traveling at high speed on Provincial Road, iFeng.com reported. His car slammed into two people walking along the side of the road and the fatal accident was captured on closed-circuit TV.

A 67-year-old man died at the scene, while a woman was sent to hospital but died the next day. The driver fled the scene. Police launched a hunt for the hit-and-run driver and found his phone number. When police called him he claimed to be out of town and denied any involvement in the accident.

Police then contacted the man’s family and the following day he turned himself in. The man claimed he had not slept the night before the accident. A police investigation is ongoing.
