UAE issues Nepal travel warning following heavy monsoon rainfall
The UAE embassy in Nepal has issued a travel warning as torrential rains continue to fall across the Himalayan country. The adverse weather conditions could lead to more landslides.

Authorities took to Twitter to warn UAE citizens to exercise caution if travelling to or around Nepal. Any travellers requiring assistance from the embassy are advised to contact the authority on 00977 421 776.

The warning comes as heavy rainfalls continue to lash the southern belt of Nepal.

The monsoon season in the country normally runs from June to September. This year, torrential rain and flash floods have already resulted in dozens of fatalities.

The warning from the UAE embassy comes after the UK government also updated its advice to include a travel alert.

Update foreign travel advice from the UK states that travellers should be aware that “flooding and landslides often occur during this time. Road travel anywhere can be hazardous, particularly in rural areas. Take care and check access routes before setting off.”

The torrential downpours have battered the country since July 11 affecting more than half the districts in the country.
