Want To Replace Your Slow iPhone 6 Plus Battery? Wait Till March, As Apple Tries To Meet Demand
When Apple admitted to slowing down older iPhones to supposedly preserve the battery life, customers were livid. Ever since, the company has been trying to make amends, and trying to make a peace offering of discounted battery replacements.
The company announced it was letting iPhone owners replace their old phone batteries for just $29, a fraction of the price it would normally cost for that kind of work. In the wake of that, people have been queueing up at Apple service centres trying to stay one step ahead of the entire issue before it hits them.
Now, it seems iPhone 6 Plus users will have a bit of an extra wait to replace their batteries. According to internal documents accessed by MacRumors, Apple will not have enough replacement batteries for the 2014 device in stock until late March or even early April. And that’s just the estimate for iPhone 6 Plus owners in the US. For others in India and Asia, that wait might be even longer.
There’s already been a fluctuating wait time for the parts as Apple tries to manage the sudden influx of replacement orders. After all, if your old battery could slow down your iPhone, and Apple is offering really cheap replacements, wouldn’t you jump at the chance?
According to the documents, US owners of the iPhone 6 and 6s Plus will have to wait about two weeks, iPhone 6 Plus owners until March or April, and iPhone 6s, 7, 7 Plus, and SE owners shouldn’t have any trouble at all.
