Dalai Lama in an interview with BBC News said that if his successor is female, she should be attractive. This statement has drawn severe criticism among netizens.
The Dalai Lama stood his ground when asked about his statement being offensive and objectifying. He said that real beauty is inner beauty but also emphasised on the outer appearance.
Making a distorted face in the interview, he said people would not prefer seeing that face.
He said that if women have the opportunity to spend money on make up, "they must do something."
In addition to this, the Dalai Lama also spoke against the increasing number of African refugees and migrants in Europe. This statement raised eyebrows and drew criticism.
He also said that "Trump lacks moral support" and disapproved of hisexpression "America first" saying that Trump should take global responsibility.
