YouTube shuts down far-right stations over hate speech
YouTube on Monday turn off six far-right stations for violating guidelines against "supremacist" content material, booting video clips by David Duke, Stefan Molyneux and Richard Spencer.

The video sharing platform pulled the plug on the channels as online social media platforms face increasing pressure to crack down on hateful rhetoric.

"We have strict plans prohibiting hate speech on YouTube, and terminate any channel that repeatedly or perhaps egregiously violates those guidelines," YouTube said on response to an AFP inquiry about the move.

Since updating guidelines a year ago to better address supremacist articles, YouTube saw a fivefold spike in video tutorial removals and has terminated more than 25,000 stations for violating hate speech plans, the spokesperson added.

YouTube said that the stations removed Monday included Duke, Molyneux, Spencer and American Renaissance.

All the terminated channels broke YouTube rules by alleging that customers of protected organizations were innately inferior to others, based on the Google-owned video platform.

A few of the nixed stations also violated guidelines against linking YouTube videos to hateful content material hosted elsewhere on the web, the company said.

Spencer confirmed the suspension of his bank account in a good tweet that included a good screen-capture of a note from YouTube citing plans against glorifying or inciting violence against a good person or group.

In a video submitted on Twitter, Molyneux said his offerings on YouTube were erased, contending that the action was unwarranted.

"The accusation may be the usual the one which I am fomenting violence and hatred etc, which is not authentic at all," Molyneux said in the video.

"This is a huge blow."

The YouTube removals came as Reddit yanked a forum used by President Donald Trump supporters within a crackdown on hateful posts at the favorite online bulletin board, and the game streaming platform Twitch briefly suspended the president.

"r/The_Donald" was among some 2,000 discussion boards or "subreddits" banned as part of a tightening of rules at the news-focused community internet site, according to Reddit.

The longtime pro-Trump subreddit "has consistently hosted and upvoted more rule-breaking content than average, antagonized us and other communities, and its own (moderators) have refused to meet our most elementary expectations," Reddit said.

Reddit's new content coverage especially bans promoting hate predicated on identity or perhaps vulnerability, and demands posts to be personal and real to prevent spam.

"All communities about Reddit must abide by our content insurance policy in very good faith," Reddit said.

"We banned r/The_Donald since it has not done as a result, despite every opportunity."

Twitch, which is owned by Amazon, said Trump's channel was suspended over guidelines violations and that the offending content was removed.

"Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch," a good spokesperson said.

"We do not get exceptions for political or perhaps newsworthy content, and can take action on content material reported to us that violates our guidelines."

Trump features complained that Silicon Valley platforms are biased against conservatives, in spite of his own large social media following.
