8 Fathers & Sons Who Played In The Same Game

Few footballers have the chance to share the pitch with their father in professional football, but these eight players did fall into line alongside their old man - with one father-son duo even scoring in the same match.
Brazil legend Rivaldo, who won Ballon d'Or in 1999, winded down a trophy-laden career with Mogi Mirim in Brazil, rejoining them in 2013.
The club, which helped to launch his career, was fortunate enough to see him and his son Rivaldinho play together for them in the same game in February 2014, prior to the 2002 FIFA World Cup winner hung up his boots.
Fifteen months later, though, Rivaldo arrived of retirement in June 2015 and scored in the same match as his 20-year-old son in a 3-1 make an impression on Macae a month later.
"I've only God to thank, because after stopping for 15 months I still returned, getting the good fortune to start out a game alongside my son and score a goal - and he did too," Rivaldo told FIFA.
"I believe we made history. I had heard of father and son playing together, but never of father and son both scoring in a competitive match."
New FC Barcelona assistant manager Henrik Larsson achieved something similar in his early 40s.
The former Manchester United and Barca striker finished his career at Swedish fourth-tier side Hogaborgs BK in 2013, but not before playing alongside his then-15-year-old son Jordan, who found the trunk of the web in the game.
"We didn't combine a lot but obviously I'm proud," Larsson said. "It really is, of course, a rare luxury to access play together with your son."
You can find even more fathers who played alongside their sons, including person who were able to share the pitch with two different sons and another who played in the same game for his country as his son, in the gallery above!
