Agricultural Exports Increase Amid Epidemic
Korea's agricultural exports have risen even while overall shipments shrank because of the coronavirus epidemic.

Agricultural exports rose 4.9 percent on-year in the time from January till August to US$4.85 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on Thursday.

Overall exports shrank by 10.1 percent over the same period.
Kimchi exports played an enormous part, rising by an impressive 40.3 percent.

"The increase arrives chiefly to an elevated worldwide interest in healthy fermented foods because the outbreak of coronavirus also to our development of services like vegan kimchi," the ministry said.

Exports of instant noodles also soared by 36.7 percent from a year earlier.

The ministry said, "It appears that demand for easy-to-keep and easy-to-cook instant noodles has increased in worldwide lockdown."

Influential marketers like YouTubers contributed drastically to the worldwide interest in Korean foods.
