Result: FC Barcelona 3-1 Valencia
Date: 17 October 2021
Venue: Camp Nou
Anssumane Fati started for the hosts alongside recalls for Sergi Roberto, Jordi Alba and Eric Garcia while Aguero recovered from injury to make it to the bench for the first time.
Valencia had a dream start after Jose Gaya fired them ahead in the fifth minute with a cracking low strike from the edge of the box that took a nasty deflection.
The hosts weren't behind for too long as Fati levelled matters for Ronald Koeman's charges in the 13th minute with a curling strike into the bottom corner after exchanging passes with Memphis Depay.
Fati was having a bigger impact after he won a penalty for Barcelona just before the half-time break, which allowed Depay to fire home and complete the turnaround for Koeman's men.
Barca were forceful early in the second stanza but Los Che came close to levelling matters eight minutes from the half-time break with a low strike from just outside the box that came off the inside of the post and away from goal.
With the game losing it's edge after the hour-mark and Jose Bordalas' men unable to break down Barcelona, Koeman made a double change in the last 20 minutes, as Nico replaced Gavi and Oscar Mingueza replaced Roberto.
Los Che committied numbers going forward in search of an equaliser with time runnning out, but they were punished on a counter-attack as Philippe Couttinho finished off a cross by Sergino Dest to make it 3-1 for the Catalan giants.
With the nerves settled, Koeman eventually gave Aguero his debut off the bench in the last three minutes in place of Dest but he could barely touch the ball, as Barca sealed the win to move up to seventh on the log.
