Antony Stars To Send Man Utd Third

Antony played a starring role as Manchester United climbed to third spot with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday evening.

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof were restored to the line-up in place of the injured Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, while Christian Eriksen replaced Marcel Sabitzer, who was injured in the warm up.
The game's first chance fell to the visitors when Bruno Fernandes' shot deflected into the path of Jadon Sancho, who saw his goal-bound strike cleared away by Felipe. Keylor Navas then came to Forest's rescue in the 17th minute as the shot-stopper produced a fine save to keep out Fernandes' stinging volley after United broke out on the counter.
Forest went close with their first opening from a corner on 25 minutes as Scott McKenna bundled an effort onto the crossbar, although replays shoed the ball hit his arm.
United's dominance paid off in the 31st minute when Martial saw his strike parried away by Navas, but Antony was on hand to bundle into an empty for his first league since October.
The hosts went agonisingly close to adding a second goal ten minutes into second half, but Navas produced a superb finger-tip save to push Fernandes' effort on the upright.
United were in danger of replicating their result from Thursday after Martial's squandered a glorious header on 73 minutes, while Felipe headed over for the home side at the other end.
The second goal did arrive three minutes later when Antony turned provider to play in Dalot, who took one touch before calmly slotting into the far corner for his first league goal.
That goal would be enough to seal three points for the Red Devils, who move above Newcastle United who lost to Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
