Barca Superstar Slams Claims Players Refused Wage Cuts
05 April, 2020
Luis Suarez has finally responded to claims that the FC Barcelona stars had at first rejected the thought of wage cut amid on coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this week, Lionel Messi confirmed on his Instagram that the players had agreed to a 70% pay cut as the season is suspended as a result of virus.
There have been initial reports last month that Barcelona's first-team players had rejected the thought of reducing their earnings, but Suarez has rubbished those claims.
"A whole lot of hurtful things have already been said about the squad's earnings cuts," the Uruguayan told Sport 890.
"Folks have said that the players didn't want to simply accept them, then it was said that players from the areas of the club had reached an agreement, when the truth is that people were waiting to find a very good solution for the club."
"It hurts when people say things like that because we were always the first persons that wished to reach an agreement, as we really know what the club's situation is.
"No player in the squad refused a wage cut. A mutual agreement was reached between your players and the club. The captains spoke to the president and nobody refused it."
