Benzema Linked With Incredible €400m Offer

Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema has been linked with a stunning €400 million (R8.4 billion) contract offer, with his current deal in Spain expiring next month.

ESPN reports that the 35-year-old is reconsidering his future at the 14-time European champions amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

Benzema has been linked with Al Ittihad, this season's Saudi Pro League winners, this week, but he is still said to be mulling over an offer he received from Al Hilal in January. The publication claims the ex-France international was handed a proposal worth €400 million over two years from the club, who are now believed to be pursuing a move for Barcelona target Lionel Messi.

The Independent, meanwhile, reports that Al Hilal would like to team the Frenchman up with the Argentine in the Middle East, although it remains unclear as to where the Paris Saint-Germain superstar will play his football next season.

The Saudi top flight seems to have the intention to become a powerhouse within the sport around the world, after Al Nassr landed Cristiano Ronaldo on record-breaking terms in the January window.

Benzema was previously expected to continue at Los Blancos beyond the 2022/23 campaign, but reports in recent days have suggested it could be time for a new challenge having won all he can in Spain. 

The Athletic understands that Real already know what the striker's decision will be ahead of their final LaLiga game of the season, a home clash against Athletic Bilbao.
