Biden administration undeterred by Iran’s refusal to activate in direct nuclear talks
The Biden administration is increasing its attempts to come back to the Iran nuclear package despite Tehran’s refusal to activate in immediate talks with Washington.

A senior administration official told The National that the US would continue pursuing diplomacy to revive the nuclear deal following the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that Iran rejected an EU present to arrange immediate talks with Washington.

“While we happen to be disappointed at Iran’s response, we remain prepared to re-engage found in meaningful diplomacy to achieve a mutual go back to compliance [under the terms of the package],” stated the senior administration official.

He said the administration would continue steadily to check with with the five other signatories to the manage Iran: the UK, France, Germany, Russia and China.

Former president Donald Trump withdrew from the offer found in 2018, prompting Iran to break key parts of the accord.

Most recently, Iran commenced enriching uranium to 20 % purity in its Fordow facility.

President Joe Biden has pledged to re-enter the offer and lift up the sanctions regime on Iran if Tehran returned to honour it is end of the arrangement.

But Iran insists that the US must first present sanctions pain relief before it returns to compliance with the accord.

Tension between the two has increased in latest weeks, with Iran-backed militias launching rocket attacks on American troops stationed found in Iraq.

Mr Biden retaliated on Thursday with a good strike on Iran-backed Iraqi militias operating on the Syrian area of the border with Iraq.

One of the militias, Kataib Hezbollah, denied responsibility for the sooner attacks.
