Businesses Offer Lavish Meal Sets for Lockdown Chuseok
Hotels and departments stores are gearing up for a socially distanced Chuseok, offering food for ancestral rites and traditional meal sets.

The Grand InterContinental Seoul hotel is offering a traditional food set for Chuseok cooked by its chefs.

A set serving four to five persons will definitely cost an eye-watering W790,000 (US$1=W1,169).

Lotte and Shinsegae department stores are also offering traditional holiday food sets with dishes like sanjeok (grilled seasoned beef), assorted jeon (Korean pancakes) and different-colored vegetable dishes at a cost of W250,000 per set.

For singles, they are preparing lunch boxes for W35,000.

"We have tripled the varieties of traditional foods compared to last year because food consumption at home is bound to increase as a result of lockdown this Chuseok holiday," a Shinsegae staffer said.
