Category of UK man held found in India charm to PM Johnson for help
The son of a British man held in India - in a case associated with a Dubai princess who claims she was kidnapped - has appealed to Prime Minister Boris Johnson for help.

Arms seller Christian Michel, 59, possesses been detained found in India since December 2018 after appearing extradited from the United Arab Emirates over a good helicopter deal.

India on Saturday dismissed calls by UN rights authorities for him to come to be freed, rejecting ideas that his detention had been politically motivated and with no legal basis.

The UN Performing Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) said Michel's imprisonment lacked a legal basis.

And it raised considerations that his extradition "was a de facto swap" for India's take and return of an unnamed high-profile detainee to Dubai in March 2018.

Michel's 26-year-old boy, Alaric Michel, welcomed Friday's comments by the UN panel, and told Sky Information he hoped the British prime minister would right now intervene.

"I hope he will consider that he's a UK citizen and a UK citizen under his cover as prime minister of our region."

His father had been held "in a few of the worst circumstances" and the family members was worried about his health, he added.

LEAKED VIDEOS

The detention of Michel has suspected links to Sheikha Latifa, the girl of Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum. She was captured by Indian commandoes at sea in 2018 after trying to flee the UAE.

In videos secretly delivered to friends she has said she was abducted by her family, something her relatives have denied, insisting she is being cared for in the home.

Johnson himself expressed concern about the videos in comments Wednesday.

Sky News meanwhile has acquired video recording of Christian Michel - filmed while he was found in detention in Dubai - where he links his pending extradition to Latifa's circumstance.

"Found in 2018, everything changed. A meeting happened in the Indian Sea which entirely changed my entire life and the proceedings that I was under," he stated.

"So now i am sitting in a jail found in Dubai facing extradition. None of the would even concern me, but also for several meetings that occurred in July, after the return of Latifa."

Michel was employed in the UAE as a good middleman and consultant for a good subsidiary of the Anglo-Italian firm AgustaWestland, itself a good subsidiary of aerospace and defence group Finmeccanica.

He was accused of arranging kickbacks to Indian officials to secure a good deal to provide 12 helicopters this year 2010.

India cancelled the offer in January 2014 amid allegations of bribery.
