Japan careful on the global economy, urges support for poor nations

The global economy warrants caution because of uncertainty over coronavirus vaccinations and variants, though Japan's economy reveals signs of restoration with low infections, Japanese Financing Minister Taro Aso said on Friday (Feb 26).
Speaking to reporters after attending a virtual meeting of Band of 20 financial leaders, Aso likewise urged the major economies to unite in backing low income countries granted widening disparities of financial growth and vaccinations.
"To aid low income countries, Japan will back again a fresh allocation of SDRs (Special Drawing Rights)," Aso said, referring to the International Monetary Fund's resources.
