Celine Dion wears Lebanese designer for 'Courage' album artwork
18 November, 2019
Celine Dion is known as a champion of Arab and regional designers, so it comes as no surprise that the Canadian singer has chosen to wear pieces by Lebanese designer Ralph Masri for promotional photos to support her new album, Courage.
In the high fashion images, Dion is wearing Masri's Phoenician Script bolt earrings.
"No I’m not crying over queen [Celine Dion] rocking my Phoenician Script earrings in her new album campaign shots, you are," the designer wrote on Instagram, sharing images of the star sporting his diamond jewellery.
In a second post, he shared a look at a poster of Dion, which comes with the album, saying: "I am not worthy."
The images were styled by Sydney Lopez, the stylist credited with transforming Dion's look.
Here is a closer look at the Ralph Masri bolt-shaped earrings:
The earrings are made of 18-karat white gold with diamonds. Alternative styles feature diamonds and emeralds; rose gold with diamonds and rubies; and solid yellow gold, for splashes of colour. The collection is inspired by the ancient Phoenician alphabet.
Ralph Masri is available to buy in stores in Beirut, London, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Houston and Kuwait. His collections are not available to buy in store in the UAE, but you can shop online at 1stdibs.com. The Phoenician Script earrings are not currently listed online, but his collection retails from $1,560 to $16,100 (Dh5,730 to Dh59,130).
Dion joins a crop of influential women to have sported Masri's bejewelled designs, including Gigi Hadid, Meghan Markle and Hilary Rhoda. Jordan's Queen Rania is also regularly spotted wearing his designs.
This is not the first time Dion has turned to regional designers when promoting Courage. As she embarked upon her world tour, she opted to wear a red sequinned, asymmetric racerback dress by Kuwaiti designer Yousef El Jasmi for the opening night.
El Jasmi is the designer behind the singer's official Courage World Tour art.
Not dissimilar to the dress Dion wore on stage, the red sparkling gown in the official imagery has a vest-style top, with one of the straps worn off-the-shoulder.
