Chelsea got their Premier Group season off to a good positive begin after claiming a 3-1 make an impression on Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday night time.

There have been Blues debuts for German duo Timo Werner and Kai Havertz in the attack, while former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana was handed his official Brighton debut.

While it took some time for the visitors to get going, Werner made his presence felt by winning a penalty in the 20th minute after a foul by Brighton goalkeeper Matt Ryan.

Jorginho, who was simply heavily linked with an exit, took responsibility and manufactured no mistake from 12 back yards to place Frank Lampard's side in the business lead after a shaky begin.

Brighton practically got themselves rear on level conditions after 34 minutes but Blues shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga produced an excellent preserve to keep out Alzate's powerful hit, before Lallana's night time was cut short due to an injury right before the halftime break.

The equaliser ultimately arrived 10 minutes in to the second half as Leandro Trossard collected a pass from Tariq Lamptey ahead of rifling one in to the far corner.

Brighton's enjoyment was short-lived through seeing that Reece James restored Chelsea's lead two minutes later with a exceptional strike from 20 back yards that sailed in to the top corner.

The Blues bagged their third objective after 66 mins when Kurt Zouma found the trunk with a first-time volley that took a huge deflection off Lewis Dunk.

Brighton even now went in search of another goal while the half went on however the Blues defence did good to slice out any threat in and around the 18-yard spot to find out the 3-1 triumph.
