China says it's prepared to provide vaccines to overseas Chinese, Olympians

China said on Sunday (Mar 7) it has plans to create COVID-19 vaccination stations to vaccinate Chinese citizens abroad and can be ready to use the International Olympic Committee to greatly help provide vaccines to Olympic athletes for upcoming events.
China has developed several vaccines domestically and has begun its vaccination drive, with plans to vaccinate 40 per cent of its inhabitants by July.
China's top federal government diplomat Wang Yi made the comments during his twelve-monthly news conference held on Sunday.
"We are preparing to create regional vaccination sites for domestically manufactured vaccines in countries where circumstances permit, to provide solutions to compatriots in want in neighbouring countries," explained Wang.
He said some Chinese residents were already acquiring Chinese-made vaccines abroad according to local rules.
He said China would likewise make vaccines available to Olympians, and is open to discussions on mutually recognising vaccines with other countries, but did not offer specifics.
