Emotional Messi Reveals How He Told His Sons About Barca Exit

An emotional Lionel Messi has revealed how he informed his sons and wife that he wished to leave FC Barcelona and how they reacted to the news headlines.
The Argentine confirmed that he'll be staying with the Blaugrana, because he doesn not want to take the club to court.
Within an emotional interview with Goal, the 33-year-old said his whole family was moved to tears when informed them about his decision of wanting to leave.
"When I communicated my desire to leave to my partner and children, it had been a brutal drama,” Messi explained.
"The whole family started crying, my children didn't want to leave Barcelona, nor did they would like to change schools.
"But I looked further afield and I wish to compete at the best level, win titles, compete in the Champions League. You can win or lose in it, since it is very difficult, but you have to compete.
"At least compete for this and let us not break apart in Rome, Liverpool, Lisbon. All that led me to take into account that decision that I needed to carry out."
The Argentine also explained how his older son Thiago found out about the rumours in the news headlines and how hard it had been to explain the whole situation.
"Mateo continues to be little and he doesn't realise what this means to go someplace else and make your daily life a couple of years elsewhere," he added.
"Thiago, he's older. He heard something on TV and discovered something and asked.
"I didn't want him to learn anything about having to leave, to have to live in a fresh school, or make new friends.
"He cried if you ask me and said ‘let's not go’. I repeat that it had been hard, really.
"It was understandable. It happened to me. It is extremely difficult to make a decision.
"I really like Barcelona and I'm not likely to find a better place than here anywhere. Still, I have the right to decide. I would search for new goals and new challenges. And tomorrow I possibly could go back, because within Barcelona I've everything."
