Facebook blocks Signal’s Instagram ad account

Facebook blocked encrypted messaging software Signal from owning a series of Instagram advertising that could show users the non-public data the photo-posting network and its own social press behemoth owner collect from them.

Targeted advertising is usually a profitable business for Facebook. Once a month users across its category of programs - Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp - surged almost 5 % to 3.5 billion in the 90 days to March 31.
Facebook's advertising business relies on precise data monitoring that selects which ads are more profitable showing users. The business attributed the significant upsurge in its last quarter’s revenue to a growth in the average price per advertising and surge in the amount of ads delivered.
