First OnePlus 7 render leaks shows off pop-up selfie cam
05 March, 2019
During MWC 2019, OnePlus showed off their 5G handset that will be making its debut in the first half of this year. However, the handset was in a casing in order to conceal its final design. Serial tipster OnLeaks has now shown off what looks like an official render of the handset and with it, we see the new pop-up selfie camera that will come with the OnePlus 7.
As per a report by Engadget, OnePlus will aim to eradicate the bezels of the handset in its entirety and the first step in doing so is by removing the dreaded waterdrop notch that’s seen on the OnePlus 6T. Now to do this, OnePlus has followed Vivo and have used a NEX-style pop-up selfie camera that’s located on the top left of the handset. This allows the 6.5-inch display to be nearly bezel-less and in the process achieving a greater screen-to-body ratio.
Other notable differences seen on the OnePlus 7 include a triple rear camera layout which is on par with a host of other handsets that have launched this year. The handset is said to not feature wireless charging as OnePlus’ Pete Lau has dismissed this feature from appearing in the next generation device.
Engadget reports that though this handset will be the next OnePlus 7, it will not be the 5G handset from the brand. But instead, the first 5G handset from OnePlus is said to launch later on this year.
The final question is when will the OnePlus 7 be launched? If history is anything to go by, then the handset could launch by either May or June.
