Flow of items and items between Malaysia and Singapore to keep during FMCO: Gan Kim Yong

The flow of goods and items between Singapore and Malaysia will continue despite having the full motion control order (FMCO) being implemented in Malaysia from Jun 1 to Jun 14, said Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong on Saturday (May 29).
"Since the start of pandemic, Singapore and Malaysia have already been working closely to guarantee the continued flow of things and items between our two countries," said Mr Gan.
"We will continue steadily to do so subsequent Malaysia’s latest announcement of even more tightened measures to regulate the pandemic of their country."
On Friday, Malaysia's Primary Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced a "total lockdown” through the entire region to curb the pass on of COVID-19.
The first phase of the lockdown will last from Jun 1 to Jun 14, and only essential economical and service sectors listed by the National Security Council will be permitted to operate during this time period.
Mr Gan said on Saturday that during the period of the this past year, leading supermarket chains found in Singapore have already been actively monitoring the problem globally and regionally, acting quickly to develop inventory where necessary.
Mr Gan as well expressed his appreciation towards those employed in the logistics sector and supermarket staff members for their effort in making certain there are sufficient supplies for Singapore.
