Furious Messi Hits Out At Barca
Lionel Messi is not known to be an outspoken leader, but the FC Barcelona captain has now come out and slammed his own club’s leadership.

The Argentine took to Instagram on Tuesday evening, to express his frustrations with a jibe directed at Sporting director Eric Abidal.

His former teammate had given an interview to Sport, suggesting that some of team’s players forced Ernesto Valverde’s sacking with their attitude and that they were not working hard enough.

Messi, however, felt this criticism on the team was not justified and expressed his feelings via an Instagram story visible for his 140 million followers.

"I honestly do not like doing these things, but I think everyone has to be responsible for their tasks and take care of their decisions," Messi said in the post, which accompanied a screenshot of an article from Sport with Abidal's comments, Marca report.

"The players are responsible for what happens on the pitch and we are also the first to recognise when we're not doing well.

"Those responsible for the sports management must also assume their responsibilities and, above all, take ownership of the decisions they make.

"Finally, I think that when talking about players, names should be given.

"Because if not then we are tarred with comments that are said and are not true."

Barcelona are yet to comment on Messi’s remarks, but his unhappiness could not have come at a worse time for the club as they are trying to tie him down on a new long-term contract.
