Global vaccine trust increasing, but France, Japan, others skeptical
People's willingness to get vaccinated against COVID-19 is rising around the world and over fifty percent of these questioned said they would have the shot if it were offered next week, an updated study of global vaccine self confidence found on Thursday.

But attitudes and confidence vary widely in the 15 countries covered in the survey, with France showing large levels of skepticism and some Parts of asia showing declining rely upon vaccines, although some European nations see soaring confidence.

Overall, vaccine confidence is going to be higher than on November, when the same survey - conducted in 15 countries and covering 13,500 persons each time - discovered that only 40% will be willing to get vaccinated.

The study, co-led by YouGov and Imperial University London’s Institute of Global Health and wellbeing Innovation (IGHI), discovered that persons in Britain were the most willing to have a COVID-19 vaccine, at 78%, followed by Denmark at 67%.

France had the best proportion of respondents who exactly said they might not take a vaccine, at 44%, but saw a doubling in the proportion who actually strongly agreed that they might have a vaccine, from 15% found in November to 30% in January.

In Australia, Japan, South Korea and Singapore, willingness to have a vaccine has dropped off since November, with Japan showing the least preparedness, accompanied by Singapore.

"As vaccines will take up a vital role found in controlling the pandemic, leaders must action now to help more persons understand the benefits of getting vaccinated against COVID-19 and make sure that no one is left out," said David Nabarro, the IGHI's co-director and a global Health Organization expert on COVID-19.

The study is part of efforts by the WHO and other bodies to screen health-related behavior and attitudes through the pandemic.

Since April 2020 researchers have surveyed more 470,000 persons worldwide. This most recent survey ran from Jan. 4-24.

It found that a lot of people trust vaccines, with two-thirds expressing strong or perhaps moderate confidence and simply 12% reporting zero trust at all. In addition, it observed that two-thirds of people believe getting vaccinated can be important for their health.
