Standard Motors Co and labor union Unifor said about Friday they have reached a tentative package for the automaker to get nearly CUS$1 billion (US$785.42 million) on its CAMI Assembly Plant on Ingersoll, Ontario, to produce commercial electric vans.
Beneath the tentative deal, which is yet to be ratified by the union personnel, GM has decided to begin large-scale commercial development of EV600, a power van, at its CAMI plant, Unifor stated in a statement.

The brand new deal builds after recent investments by GM in Canada, which in November had decided to invest CUS$1 billion in its Oshawa plant to expand production of its full-size pickups.
The Canadian government welcomed the offer and said it would confirm its support as soon as the union associates ratified the deal.
"We await the benefits of the ratification vote," Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne stated in a statement.
Unifor, the union representing hourly employees in Canada, said additional information of the deal would be presented to native customers of the union at an on the net ratification meeting scheduled for Jan. 17, the results which are planned to be released a day later.
