Hasina seeks UAE investment in SEZs
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday urged the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invest in Bangladesh's special economic zones.

She made the call when newly appointed UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Saed Mohammed Saed Hamid Al-Mheiri met her at her office in the city.

The prime minister welcomed the new envoy and assured giving him all-out support in discharging his duties. Hasina recalled Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's visit to the UAE in 1974 and his personal friendship with UAE's Father of the Nation Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, saying the visit had laid the foundation for bilateral relations.

The envoy informed the prime minister that major business groups of the UAE were keen on investing in Bangladesh.

He said his country wants to continue cooperation with Bangladesh in various sectors, and he would work towards taking the bilateral relations to a new height.

Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman and the prime minister's military secretary, Major General Mia Mohammad Zainul Abedin, were present.
